At this stage, it’s all about exploration. Sketching on paper, using cardboard, modeling in free CAD tools, or even experimenting with 3D printing at home can give shape to your idea. You don’t need perfect. You need progress.

You want to prove basic functionality
We’re big fans of Arduino for this reason. Whether you're testing a switch, a motor, or a basic sensor system, Arduino lets you validate core concepts without committing to a full electronics design.
You’re testing for yourself—not for the world yet
In the alpha prototype phase, the goal is internal clarity. You're answering: Does this work? Does it solve the problem? Not: Does it look pretty or pass regulatory checks?
You’re trying to save money (the smart way)
